Lamonte W. Carter practices in the area of general defense litigation, personal injury, with an emphasis upon complex litigation involving premises liability, automobile negligence, products liability, finance creditor negotiations, trucking and transportation, indemnification disputes, insurance disputes, Lemon Law litigation, landlord and tenant litigation, construction defect disputes, all facets of real estate, finance, and negligent security. Mr. Carter has over 20 years of experience working with all types of small to mid-size entrepreneurs, real estate investors and developers, banking and finance, and all facets of construction contractors.

 

Prior to founding The Carter Firm, PLLC, in December 2022, Lamonte Carter was an associate attorney with Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., which is the largest law firm in Florida.  In that capacity, Mr. Carter represented a significant variety of clients in numerous industries, including, among others, national and regional insurance carriers (defense work), automobile manufacturers and dealerships, supermarkets, Florida state agencies, homeowner associations and multi-family developers, landlords and property management companies, trucking and transportation companies, general contractors and sub-contractors, restaurants, and gas station owner operators. Mr. Carter was a hearing officer for the State of Florida DEO with jurisdiction over state and federal administrative appeals for benefits. Also, he effectively served in various leadership roles including Sr. Relationship Mgr. of Policy & Procedures in Consumer and Community Banking for over a decade at JP Morgan Chase & Co., ranked by S&P Global as the largest bank in the United States. He excels in meeting and maintaining high work standards through the ability to analyze financial or legal challenges and present viable solutions. He advises on Landlord/Tenant matters, Foreclosures and Short Sales, Capital Markets and Correspondent Lending Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending (TILA), Dodd-Frank, Safe Harbor,  Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Consumer Protection Act (CPA) policy and procedure in over $110 million worth of residential and commercial loan transactions; extensive knowledge of Jumbo, FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, VA transactions, Opportunity Zone, Private Equity, Public Private Partnerships, Joint Venture Capital, Public Bond Finance and Tax Credit Syndications. Also, Mr. Carter is a trusted small business, non-profit and community and economic development advisor.

Mr. Carter attended Albany State University, an HBCU in South Ga. for his undergraduate studies and later the University of Phoenix as a graduate student. He graduated from Florida Coastal Law School with highest Pro Bono Honors totaling well over 225 hours of service. Mr. Carter has served in various capacities as a volunteer in the community and in the Department of Corrections for over 23 years. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, ministry outreach events, playing golf, and spending time with his wife and four children.
